What does freedom mean to you?

To me freedom means peace and happiness and not caring of other peoples opinions toward you. Not everyone has freedom but the people that do seem to have a more easy life, freedom also meand being able to make your own wise choices and decisions.

-Julia Leon

Freedom means you can do what you want and no one can say anything to you. in the racist form of things, it also means you are in the best country in the world, America.

-Kevin Duran

To me freedom means not to be contained or shut down. It means to be enjoying life and not letting anyone hold you down

-Period 1, RJ Manalo

Freedom to me, means liberty. Meaning we have every right to do what we want as long as it follows the laws of a state. We can speak what we want, buy what we want, talk and bond with any race we want. With freedom comes changes. Those who know how to use freedom will chase after their goals, leading to new inventions or maybe even a new word. The world as a whole is lucky to have freedom, and i believe we need to appreciate it more. Because without freedom our lives would have been dull and this world would have died out slowly.
-Period 1, Johanna Briceno

Freedom is not just an idea to me. It is a powerful way of life that can be shared among the whole world. Freedom gives people many responsibilities, it can create tense situations as many of these responsibilities aren't always obvious or told to you. Freedom is the best way to live in my opinion even though it may be difficult and create problems. Freedom means the right to have dreams and pursue them responsibly.

- Period 2 Fernando D.

Freedom is to me is having the ability to live your life however you please, without people ever talling you you can't. Also being able to believe in what you want and say what you want.

- Iris G. Period 1

Freedom is a big concept to me. Without freedom we would not have any rights to do anything. Without freedom their would be slavery and our socitey would be segregated like back in the days. It gives us the rights to have dreams and goals in life.

-Mark Galvan per. 1

to me freedom means to have rights. freedom allows you to have more responsibilities as an individual.
-Sabrina Bill C: period 2

Freedom has a basic meaning to me: do what you want, when you want. You are free, so act like it! You're your own (wo)man! You don't want to wear pants- then don't wear pants! Whoo! No pants!

-Dylan Harris Period 2

To me freedom is being able to make your oiwn decisions and choices. With freedom come great responsibility, what you do could afeect you for the rest of your life. Freedom is also freedom of speech and religion. knowing you have that kind of freedom in the America is great.

-Michael DeMarco P.1

to me freedom means to have the right to to what ever uyou want. Also to live your life the way that is correct for you and others.

--Maritza Cortez-- P. 1

Freedom to me is being able to do things that i want to do, that is as long as i abide by rules my parents and the state have.

- Jordan Gitmed, Period 1

In my opinion freedom is living life the way you want it without having to listen others rules and laws. Sadly with all the rules and laws in this country, we arent truly free.

-Fernando Morales, Per 1

To me freedom means being able to do and say what you want when you want. Freedom comes with responsibility and as long as the rules/laws aren't broken freedom will stay.

~Christy McCallister Period. 2

To me freedom means to beable to do anything you want. as long as its not illegal.

-Edward Robledo period 2

I feel that freedom is often used vaguely, but what i always think of is the ability to be yourself, to say what you want, and do what you feel like doing. Freedom does come with a set of rules though. It is an individual's duty to follow those rule.

-Amanda Gaba period

Freedom means to be free and do what you want with out letting anybody telling you what to do. Freedom is not gifted to certain people it is gifted to every body. that was my definition of freedom.

Juan Madrid Period 1.

Freedom is a word that contains many types of definitions. But mine is being able to live your life, and saying what is on your mind without being prosecuted.

~Alyssa Aguilar P.2

To me freedom means that you get to live life freely without anyone telling you what to do. nobody putting restrictions on you and saying you cannot do something,

-Serena L. P.2

To me freedom means being able to make your own decisions and being able to express yourself and the type of person you are.

-Martin R P.2

Freedom to me is about being able to do what you want or not being told what do do just like what they have in the United States, but in some countries around the world they don't have freedom because of their rulers.

-Chris Ladeau p.1

In my opinion freedom means to be able to do whatever you want when you want. It also means to be able to speak your mind without worring about getting into trouble.

~Gaby Gallegos Per. 2

Freedom is a broad subject that can be seen from many perspectives. In my view, freedom can only be given when the government lowers its level of regulation. This way, we ca have the freedom of speech, the right to bear arms, and freedom of expression, ect. Without government interference. we will aslo be able to conduct business more efficiently without governmental restrictions on what we can do. Thus, freedom can only be given when the government is not regulating your personal life.
Darby Biggs P.1

To me, freedom is having the ability to make your own choices in life without people telling you what to do. To be free is just being able to live life the way that you want to live it.

-Esteban Ojeda, P.1

Freedom to me means that we all are equal and that no one should be judges for the race or color that they are. To me it means that we all have the right to say what we will and have support on it. To me freedom means that we can make our own life choices and not being told what we can and cannot do.
-Julie Cameron, Per.1

Freedom to me means to be free and be able to do anything you want when ever you want. It also means that you can be out spoken with out having anyone tell you anything.

Karina Morelos Per.1

Freedom to me means that you are able to show your individuality and be able to do what you want. I also think that freedom is about standing up for what you feel is right and what is wrong in the world. -Cheyanne Ervin . P2

Freedom means being able to have rights and the ability to make your own decisions without people telling you what or how to do things. Being free means you can live life the way you want to. - Rayven Adams P.2

Freedom is to be unrestricted and to do what you feel you must do without having second thoughts of your actions or sayings which is due to others' opinions, requests, actions, etc.

-Brian B.

Period 1

Freedom to me is being able to do whatever you desire without having someone tell you if you can or can not do it. It's being able to speak your mind when you want to or eat whenever you are hungry, or making your own decisions without someone telling you when to do it. It taking control of your own life and your own destiny and not having someone control you or make decisions for you.

-Viviana R. Guerrero

Period 2

To me freedom means that you get to do whatever you want without the permission of anyone. It is when your able speak your mind without worring that anyone will say or do something to stop you from doing it. Its having control of your own actions.

Ivonne Morales, Period 1

To me, freedom means expressing your opinions without getting punished for it. It means the right of having your own mind, meaning that you do not have to listen to what other people say if you do not believe it.

Lauren P.

Period 1

To me freedom means the state of being when you don't have to follow a certain nationwide religion, you don't have to answer to anybody if you stay out of trouble, and when you can do pretty much whatever you want because you have a military service that protects those rights that allows you to do so.

Matthew Orona, P.1

Week of Jan. 30

Do you have any superstitions or rituals you practice? Briefly describe one.

One big superstition I have is when walking on a sidewalk I think it's bad luck if we cut the pole. Meaning there are poles every few steps or so and if in a group we should all go through on side and not split in half! Makes me mad when people cut the pole !

-Johanna Briceno, P.1

I do not have any superstitions or rituals at all.

-Julia Leon

I do not have any superstitions or rituals at all. I don't really have a habit of doing a specific thing for an event of some sort.

-Cheyanne Ervin, P2

I dont have any superstitions but before every play or when im up to bat I have to tap my right foot 3 times and my left one 2 times. Never knew why its just a ritual.

~Alyssa Aguilar

I do not have any superstitions and I do not pratcice any rituals.

-Iris G. Per. 1

I do not have many superstitions, just one. When ever I am doing good with something or before I take a big test, I try to tell myself that I will do good. When ever I say it to myself, I think that I am actually jinxing myself, so I believe that I have to knock on wood or eles I will end up jinxing myself.

Lauren P.

Period 1

I only have one superstitions and that is when I have taken a test and I think that I did good on it I don't tell people. I fell like if I tell someone that I did good then I just lost my chances of doing good on it. I feellike i jiinx it or something like that.

~Gaby Gallegos Period 2

I dont have any superstitions that i know of really except whne i drop pepper. I will throw salt over my left shoulder for luck. I do not have any rituals i perform.

-Mark galvan Per.1

I don't have any superstitions or rituals. I don't do any of that, I think its all made up and all in your head. When you spill salt, you automatically think "Bad Luck." You are taught that you will have bad luck if you spill salt and don't throw pepper. Eventually people start thinking "I didn't throw the pepper..I'll have bad luck now" you psyche yourself out when you do that. Again I believe all of it is in your head none of it is true.

Darby Biggs P.1

I was born on April Fools so growing up everyone, for some reason, always felt like they had to point out superstitions. i know them all, the black cat, a broken mirror, salt and pepper, walking under a ladder, stepping on the crack, an odd number of sneezes, the numbers 4,7, and, 8, etc. I grew out of them, however I never go a birthday without people pointing them out.

-Amanda Gaba period1

If by superstitions you mean religion and by rituals you mean Christianity, then yes, I do have a very long line of superstitions and rituals. Though other than that, no, I believe that life is a relatively straightforward walk.

-Niye Turner

I dont have any superstitions or rituals i practice at all.

-Martin R Per.2

i dont have any superstitions or rituals that i practice. i think...

maritza cortez p.1

Hm, I believe I have rituals for before I run. Before a track meet, I listen to heavy metal because the drums get my blood pumping. It helps me get ready to sprint. Before kickoff, I had a specific stretch I would do that stretched my legs out. I do it for my speed; its always worth it.

-Dylan Harris Period 2

I believe that you should pray before every meal.

Taylor W.

No i don't have any superstitions or rituals.

- Jordan Gitmed, period 1

I have a ritual where i have to read something three times each.

- Julie Cameron, period 1

I dont have any supersitions; but every time I play a baseball or footall game, I tell myself that I am going to great. I really do that when I want to do good something. I guess that is kind of a ritual that I always do.

-Michael DeMarco P.1

I dont have any superstitions but when im playing basketball i never think when i am shooting the ball and then when i know it i make it.

Juan Madrid Period1

I dont have any supersitions, will at least that I know of. i don't have any because i don't have a habit of doing things or have a specefic event that i do.

-Karina Morelos per.1

When I am learning a song on the piano, every time i learn a new section, whether it be just a measure, i repeat the song from the beginning. Then i learn yet another small portion.
-Andrina S., Per.1

Cant say i have a ritual aside from football i have to jump and shake my head because i know something is about to go down.

-Kevin Duran P.2

I really don't have any superstitious or rituals, but when ever I am on kickoff for football i hold my breath right before the ball is kicked.

B Jones p. 2

I may not have any of these but my mother believes in the "Limpia de Ojo" This gets rid of the negative vibes this involves coating an egg in cologne/perfume and rubbing it on a baby ,for instance, and cracks the egg into a cup and all the negative vibe shows up as a white substance on the yolk thus making it look like an eye.

-Brian B.

Period 1

I don't have any superstitions or rituals, but when i play a basketball game i always tape a note on my shoes saying " Next shot", meaning that just becuase i missed a shot, doesn't mean i cant make the next. ~Rayven A. P.2

I don't have any superstitions but whenever i go up to bat for softball i always mess around with the placement of my hands on the bat until the pitcher winds up.

~Christy McCallister Period. 2

I believe that once every blue moon some strange and wondrous things can happen. To celebrate the coming events I will usually spend the night peacefully meditating over the possibilities with sweet food.

- F. Dacosta p-2

Week of Feb. 13

Huck feels "free and easy and comfortable" on the raft. Where do you feel like that? Briefly explain.

I feel free, easy, and comfortable when I play my guitar. Playing my guitar just calms me down if I'm really mad or just stressed out. The sound of music makes me feel this way. - RJ Manalo, P:1

I feel free, easy, and comfortable when i am in my room. I feel this way because it is peaceful and calm and I feel like it's my own domain. I like to have time to myself a lot so whenever I'm home I just sit in my room and think about things since it's where i feel most comfortable at.

-Cheyanne Ervin , P.2

I feel like this when i am with my girl friend and drinking a nice cold freshly made Mountain Dew. it just gets me and it is a feeling of "If i were to die right now, id be fine with it because im enjoying this delicious amazing beverage oh yeah and my girl friend."

-Kevin Duran P.2

I feel free, easy and comfortable when I am in Alaska. Life for me is easy and peaceful on the rough green spongy tundra of Alaska's vast grounds. I feel like when I am up there, I am free to do what ever I want (In which I am). I can go fish at 3am, Ride my ATV up through the beautiful mountains at 2am, and so much more. I feel comfortable talking to a majority of the people in the small town named Nome,Alaska. I get along well with many of the people up there. They are all so kind and welcoming it makes me comfortable to be there.

Darby Biggs P.1

I feel free, easy, and comfortable when I am at home in my room. It's the only place I look forward to going to when I come home, other than the kitchen of course. But yeah, I can relax, sleep, and listen to music without my parents annoying me, which they do 24/7 of my life. But yeah, I love my room it pretty much expresses who I am.
-Iris G. Period 1

i feeel free, easy and comfortable when im at my grandpas house. When im at his house i feel like i can do whatever i want and get away with it. His house is so much fun, especially when all my cousins are there. i just have so much fun with my family.
-Sabrina Bill :D

It is sort of lame but, the first place that I thought of was my room. I can go to sleep, watch television, listen to music, talk on the phone, etc. I don't get bored of my room like other people. It is full of things that I like, like magazines, books, markers, CD's, flower. I also like it because it is not a mess. I can sit relax and not worry about a mess that needs to be cleaned. I'm free to do what i want and it is comfortable.

Amanda Gaba, Period 1

I do not feel free, easy, or confortable anywhere. I am still searchign for this place. Maybe sometime in my future it will come to me.

Per. Mark Galvan per.1

Hm....I feel the most free and comfortable on a track. I feel strong and free when I am running. I can just let loose and sprint through my feelings and thought. My speed is my power and confidence; without it, I wouldn't be the awesome Dylan everybody knows and loves. heh

-Dylan Harris period 2

I tend to feel free and easy when and comfortable when i am at home and in my room. In my room is where i know i can relax and do whatever i want unless my parents tell me otherwise of course.

-Marvin Cook Per. 1

I feel most comftarable when im with my best friend viviana. Me and her are super close, it doesn't matter where we are because when me and her are together we make the best out of it.

~Alyssa Aguilar p.2

I feel free easy and comfortable in two places. When i play soccer and when im playing my drumset. those are the only two places i feel tht way.

-Martin R P.2

I feel comfortable playing basketball because i will be ablr to get comfortable with my shot. I will feel free because i will have no one to judge how i play basketball and i feel its easy because i really know how to play the sport.

Juan Madrid Period 1

i feel comfortable when im in my room. i like to just do whatever in my room. its like the world isn't bugging me with its problems. my room is my domain.

kassie petrosino period 2

I feel free and comfortable when I am at my grandparent's house. When I am in there I could just relax without anything interupping me. This was the place where I grew up and I always feel welcome when I go to visit them.

Gaby Gallegos Period 2

I have that feeling whenever i'm at my uncle's house. When i'm there me and him always watch movies, t.v. or play games. I feel like i can just let all of my worries go and have fun. I love being able to just relax and spend time with my family. To me there's nothing more easy or comfortable than that.

~ Christy McCallister Period. 2

I feel like this whenever i am at home because i can act completely comfortable at home. my house is very open and not judging so that is where i feel like i can be myself

-Serena Lopez P.2

The places that I feel free, easy, and comfortable is two places; at home and when I am running. When I am at home I can lounge around and relax and not worry if I have brushed my hair or not, and I can do what ever I want and not worry about consequences for doing something wrong. I feel comfortable while I am running because running relaxes my mind. I am a busy person, so I am always thinking about what is going to be happening next, but when I run, it all just goes away, all I think about is the next step I take.

Lauren P. Period 1

I feel free, easy, and comfortable when i am either playing my piano/drums or singing, or when i am in nature(like a lake, beach, forest, woods, etc.). Music and nature combined is like a state of nirvana to me! If i were able to place a grand piano on the beach shore of an island with crystal blue waters and a tropical rainforest in the background, that would become my ultimate comfort zone.
Andrina S., Per. 1

I feel free, easy, and comfortable when I have had a long day and I get to just go to my room, put on music, and lay there on my bed thinking about everything that is happening in my life and just enjoying the time to wind down.

Matthew Orona, P.1

I feel free, easy and comfortable when I am at home. Being around the people I love and whom of which I know will always be there for me, takes a plethora of stress away. Coming home after a long and hard day to see my brother and my parents is something I look forward to doing everyday.

Esteban Ojeda P.1

i feeel free, easy and comfortable when im at my grandpas house. When im at his house i feel like i can do whatever i want and get away with it. His house is so much fun, especially when all my cousins are there. i just have so much fun with my family.
-Sabrina Bill :D

Week of Feb. 21

In Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Huck and Jim build a friendship as they travel the Mississippi River together. Briefly, do you find friendships easy to form or do you need time to get to know someone well enough to call them a friend? What do you look for in a friend?

My personal opinion is that a true friendship needs time to develop. You can make 10 friends easily at school but are they really a friend? If all you probably know is how old they are and that you get along with them. In my case i call many people friends but a true friend is rare for me. I need to get to know that person well enough and all their morals and beliefs. In a friend I want them to be loyal, funny, and have my back.
-Johanna Briceno P.1

Friendships to me is a bond that takes time. In a friend I look for a person I can trust, talk to when I have a bad day, and can make me laugh. I love each and everyone of my friends they are like family to me.

-RJ Manalo, Period 1

I can create friendships very easily, but once that person breaks my trust then i dont bother with them because i want friends whom im able to have connections with and who would not go behind my back or anything of that sort. I look for people who could be my friend who are friendly, honest, social, and who is willing to talk about our problems or simply anything in general.

-Cheyanne Ervin, Period 2

I am not one who trust people easily, i feel like i need to get to know the person well enough because i don't want them to be 2face. What I look for in a friend is someone who knows how to listen, and when to talk. Someone who knows that gossiping on certain people is unacceptable, and finally I want to be able to introduce them to my parents without being paranoid of what they are going to say.

~Alyssa Aguilar p.2

It is easy to create a friendship. It is difficult to maintain it. It is in between difficulties to manipulate a friendship to shape it the way you want to. I look for entertainment in a friend, and an easy person to manipulate. I also like experimenting with friends for certain purposes that I will not share. I have Aspergers, so I have some awkwardness in building and maintaining a friendship. If you look it up, you'll see why.

-Cody Ott per. 2

It is very easy for me to make a friend but to be able to trust them is a different story. I am one of those people that cant trust a person until I get to know them. I have had some trust issues with a a so called friend and I will not make that same mistake again. I look for someone who I can count on to be there for me and always have my back no matter what the situation is. Someone who is easy to talk to and is a good listener.

~Gaby Gallegos Period 2

I find it easy to make friends. I find it much harder to have friends that I trust. I do not trust easily but those that I do trust I have gotten to know well enough to know that they won't break that trust. What i look for in a friend is someone I can tell anything too and know they'll never tell anyone else. Someone who can make me laugh even on my worst days and someone who is just a good person to be around.

~ Christy McCallister Period. 2

I think i am a good person therefore i make friends easy and im trustworthy. My first day of freshman year i made quiet a few new friends who were really cool. The only way i know someone will be a true friend is if they are just like me or make me laugh all the time. A friend that i would like to be around all the time are the ones who will always be there for you and who are fun.

Sabrina<3(: P.2

Making friends depends on whether or not you can relate to the person your befriending. It could take longer or shorter periods of time depending on the person. Sure you have to get to know them and things of that nature as well, but overall what I look for in a friend is simply somebody who's similar to me. Personally I don't take long to call somebody a friend.

-Niye Turner

I find it easy for me to make new friendships. I myself am a social talkative person. I do have to get to know about the person before I really call them my friend. We have to at least have some things in common. I don't just see someone and call them my friend. I have to know a little bit about them and know their personality before calling them a friend.
Darby Biggs p.1

When i first meet someone they're more of an acquaintance. When i get to know them more and they have the qualities i look for then i'll call them a friend. i look for someone who likes many of the same things i do, it makes getting into a friendship easier. I also look for a trustworthy and generous, caring person.

- Jordan Gitmed, Period 1

I believe friendships can easily be formed as long as you let yourself be befriended. I think it takes getting to know someone very well to consider them your best friend. I look for trust in a friend.
-Iris Guillen Period 1

Friends are easily made. Friends are easily lost. I look at people who have something in common with me. In the end i dont take long to make friends just do not trust someone easily though.

-Mark Galvan Per.1

i do make friends very easiley because i am a talkative socialable person. i do not consider everyone i talk to my friend because some arent they are just aqcuiantances, does not mean i have anything against them, but friends are people that i can trust and talk to things about

-Serena L. P.2

I do form friendship pretty quickly. I do not look for anything in particular in a friend. I have friends that love exactly what i like, some who like some of it, and some who hate all of it. The one thing that i don't like in a friend is negativity. Not complaining necessarily, that would be hypocritical of me, but people who put others down. That is why i surround myself with dorks, crazy people, and weirdos (just kidding you guys, i love all of you).

-Amanda Gaba Period 1

Im friendly and i can make friends easily. in a friend i look for trust and they have to be truthful and honest. they have to be real and non cocky. they have to be able to click with me and keep my secrets. i cant just call anybody a friend i have to find these things first in them.

-Raymundo Talavera p.1

I am not the kind of person that can easily get along with people. Before i can get to befriend someone i first need to know what kind of person they are and just get to know their personality. I consider a friend someone in which i can trust and rely on. I am not very talkative so it is sometimes hard to become my friend, but once people talk to me i begin to get more and more comfortable. My friends most importantly need to be down to earth.

-Ivonne Morales period1

I find it easy to make friends, but to call them an actual, close friend, I have to take some time to get to know them. I won't just walk up to anybody and say hi and tell them everything about me, it would have to take time for me to gain trust in them. When looking for a friend, I look at if they are friendly, talkative and if they are easy going, and especially if they are bossy or not.

Lauren P. Period 1

I find it easy to make friends, but friends that will stick around are hard to find. Any one can become a friend but if you want a real friend it would be best to get to know he or she. It takes time to get to know someone, find things in common and actually build a friendship. When finding a friend i look for a person who is trustworthy, honest, and mature. They have to be easy going and someone to have fun with and know i can trust when going through tough times.

-Yasmin Serrano, Period 1

In my oppinion I think friendships can be easy to make, but sometimes you do need to get to know the person well to be able to call them a friend. You need to know some people will because you never know they can be drama or trouble. What I look for in a friend is that they are kind, easy to get along with, reliable, trustable, outgoing, and fun .

Karina Morelos Per.1

I find freinships easy to form, because when you meet somebody you will already know if you like them and want to be friends. Becoming friends just happens by itself really, you just talk to somebody and just like that your friends. I really dont look for anything, if they seem like a cool and chill person then they could be my friend.

-Michael DeMarco P.1

Walk up to a person and start talking, its that easy to make a friend and I never worry about drama that could occur because I avoid it all the time. Plus its bridge so no bad stuff happens there. I can get along with about 95% of everybody at bridge so making friends is easy.

-Fernando Morales P.1

i find it really easy to make friends because you can tell if you are going to get along with somebody. a friendship happens on its on you hang out with one person and you start to talk to everybody else.

-edward robledo p.2

It isn't hard for me to trust someone, or to call them a friend. I'm a friendly guy. As long as you're cool to hang out with, and you don't annoy me, then why not call them a friend? I am open and honest, so I can trust nearly everyone, because I don't have anything to hide.

-Dylan Harris Period 2

It is hard for me to declare someone as a friend, because I find friendships something that is not a right it's more of a privileged. I have to be able to get to know that person and they have to prove to me that they are trustworthy and I can depend on them when I do need something. I am also someone that is picky about the person I want to be friends with me. They have to prove to me that they are showing their true colors no matter and won't change once we are friends. I am not a person who likes to put up with peoples mistakes or drama. So if you're a person who comes with that, don't expect me to be your friend.

-Julie Cameron, Period 1

When I meet people, it takes a while for me to call them a friend. For me, making a friend is getting to know a person and spend time with them. Walking up and talking to someone doesn't make that person a friend. What I look for in a friend is someone who you can rely on and someone that you know has your back. Someone who you can introduce to your parents and someone who can stick with you.

-Esteban Ojeda, P.1

I think it takes a while for someone to be able to call you a friend. In my opinion you have to really know eachother and get along well, and yoou also want to be friends with someone who is loyal and you know you can trust.

Marvin. C Per. 6

Friendship forms really quick with me it just takes a quick conversation and I'll know if we'll be friends and if we are friends we don't need to tell each other that because we will already know. I do not really check anything for a friend I will either like them or don't like them.

-Brian B. Period 1

I think that friendships can form easily because they way people get along. The only way to really feel like a friend is if you get to know them and then the other friend would feel like you are a really good friend. What i look in a friend is to be a good friend not just a friend that would traet you like s*** a friend that treats me well.

Juan Madrid Period 1

After I meet someone, it takes a few deep conversations to call them a friend. Other than that, they are only acquaintances. For friends, i look for people who i can trust, which i am unfortunately still on the hunt for. I usually give people i first meet, or even some friends some sort of trust test. All have failed for now.
-Andrina S, Per. 1

I find my friendships to have many variable qualities. Most notably is the fact all of my friends are able to carry a conversation with me well. I don't look for anything in a friend specifically; I simply have some qualities I find undesirable and avoid.

~Fernando D. Per. 2

Week of Feb. 27

Huck likes to put on disguises and pretend to be somebody else. Did you ever pretend to be someone or something you're not? Was it fun? Did fool anyone?

I don't think that i have ever disguised myself as someone else before. I would like to though because i love playing jokes on people.

-Cheyanne Ervin , Per. 2

Once I pretended to be a blind person at Winco's and I thought it was hilarious except they kicked me out of the store because I took my dog to pretend to be a guide dog.
-Johanna Briceno P.1

Yes, I have. I have prank called when I was younger pretending to be a pizza guy and a creeper. Everyone has prank called at least once in their lives. It was fun cause the people i would call would play along. I have fooled someone before and it can be pretty hilarious.

- Mark galvan Per.1

Yes, one time on New Years me and my cousin Hector prank called my oldest cousin, pretending to be a stalker. It was actually really funny because the whole family believed it and she was a good sport about it when we told her it was us:)

~Alyssa Aguilar, per. 2

Yes I have, I always pretend I'm my mom when I'm at home, just to show her how she acts. I walk how she does talk how she does, it's pretty funny because she always gets irritated by me. sometimes the rest of the family plays along with me too. It's fun.
-Iris G. Period 1

Yes, I've feigned to be somebody I wasn't in front of old friends and such in order to gain approval. I did this because I wasn't sure if they'd accept the person I'd become in my absence form them. It was fun to begin with until I began inevitably showing what I'd become, although it fooled them from the beginning.

-Niye Turner

When I was a little girl I use to pretent to dress up like a princess. It was fun as a child to pretend you were roalty and have a "prince charming". Until this day i think its a great experience for little girls especially at disneyland were your recognized and feel special. It was a little hard to fool anyone when all other little girls were wearing th esame thing but in the end its worth it.

-Yasmin Serrano, Period 1

Yes, I have pretended to be something I am not. I glamorized my lifestyle for some time before I realized I was only kidding myself and would only have or experience all those things if I worked at it. I have also prank called random people pretending to be some kind of marketer asking people to confirm some kind of payment, it was really pointless but hey.

-Claudia L P2

I did pretend to be someone else. Every time I met knew people I would always tell them a different name. They believed me, but I made sure I remebered the name just in case they ever asked me again. It was fun because i was not the only one pretending to be someone else, my friends did it too and we said we were sisters.

-Yanet N. Per. 1

When I answer my house phone sometimes I pretend to be my mom. My family can never tell the difference between my mom and I. Sometimes I can get away with pretending to be her. There has only been a few times when I havent fooled them. Most of the time it works.

Darby Biggs P.1

I absolutely love to pretend. I have pretended to be blind in a grocery store and everyone backed away so I didn't run into them. I pretended I was color blind and fooled my own cousin. I make up a story everyday at school for why something is the way it is. My friends know that I love to make things up and I am extremely good at it. Even though my friends know i lie i can still fool them and i can still confuse them. It is a talent and unlike Huck I can remember my fake name.

-Amanda Gaba Period 1

Yes i have pretended to be someone else. I've done it many times, but i have to say the funniest of all is when I pretended to be blind at Walmart and i kept running into things. My sister kept laughing at me the whole time so im pretty sure people caught on to what i was doing.

-Sabrina Bill :)

Yes i have pretended to be someone im not. I do it when i am trying to mimick someone or just for fun. I do it mostly when i am trying to bug my mom on purpose, and i do the exact things that she does.

-Marvin C. Per. 1

i havent done that... i guess that im no t the kind of person that would do that...

Maritza cortez p.1

I have pretended to be someone that I am not; it was New Years Eve and my cousins dared me to prank call someone from my contact list. I agreed to it because I knew that I would not cause any harm. The person that I called had no idea who I was and he believed everything that I told him. This was a fun experience!

~Gaby Gallegos Period 2

I have pretended to be someone else that i wasn't ; this was on a Christmas eve when my cousin and i decided to prank call one of our friends. The person that we called did fall for our joke completely, but than of course they got mad once they found out it was a joke. It was a really fun and exciting experience !

-Karina Morelos Per.1

I have pretended to be trash. I wanted to prank my little brother so i went in the trash can and hide myself under the trash. Then i called my mom to tell my little brother to takeout the trash. Then when he opened the trash can i came out and scared him half to death. It was pretty sad but it was also pretty funny.

Juan Madrid Period 1

I have pretended to be my mom before. Whenever my family calls my moms phone and I answer, they first thing they say is, "Is this Lauren or her mom?"It's funny because I play along like I am her, I get away with it, but when they ask me a question that I don't know, they say , "This is Lauren, I know it is."

Lauren P. Period 1

Well ones I pretended to be a pizza guy when my grandma calld my phone. I am not a pizza guy so it was a funny joke to me and her. It was vey fun to do, and I definatly fooled her.

Michael DeMarco P.1

im in plays and skits a lot so im always playing someone who im not. its a lot of fun. i also like to joke around and call my friends and pretend to be someone else.

Kassie P. P.2

I once had to pretend like i was an old lady for a play that we were doing in 5th grade. It was pretty fun and funny beause me and my friend got to dress up llke old ladies wit wigs and everything. =)

Viviana R. Guerrero p.2

I pretend to be someone else when I prank call numbers. I would especially prank call my sisters friends because they would think I was her. (This was before my voice became deep)

-Brian B

Period 1

Yes, I have pretended to be so many different people, especially when i was little. It was always funny when no one caught me; I've never been seriously caught.

-Andrina S, Period 1

Yes I have pretended to be a different person when i'm prank calling someone or texting people with a friends phone. It's always funny and i have not been caught yet. :)

~Christy McCallister Period. 2

No i can't say i have really pretended to be something i'm not except when prank calling people. that's always fun.

- Jordan Gitmed, Period 1

The only time that I can say I have pretended to be someone else was when I prank called my brother. At the time it was funny to me and dad because we kept telling him how we knew where he lived and that we would get him, but then he told my mom and we told him it was us so he could stop crying. It was a fun time.

-Esteban Ojeda, P.1

Week of March 5

Have you ever bought a product that didn't live up to its advertising promises? Briefly explain.

I have and when I did I regreted buying it, but after that I never bought anything that looked appealing on the commericals.

-Rj Manalo, P:1

No, i have not had this happen to me. But, i know people who have and i know that it pisses people off. I'm glad that i have not had this problem.

~Christy McCallister Period. 2

I have never bought anything that dissapointed me, I am careful on what i buy.

~Alyssa Aguilar

p.2

I have not but my mom did buy proactive and did not turn out as advertized. It shows how it clear ur face within two months but did not have that turn out on my mom. I also tried it and it gave me an allergic reaction; from there i learned to be acreful with what i buy.

-Yasmin Serrano, Period 1

A few times i have bought xbox games because they look cool on comercials and then they dont live up to my expectations. I hate this because most games now a days cost around $60 each and I save up money only to regret it in the end

-Fernando Morales, P.1

Yes i have brought a product that didnt live up to its advertising promises. I remember i brought an mp3 player at the store once and it didnt even work!

Marvin C. Per. 6

my mom bought boneless chicken nuggets the Tyson kind, well it had a bone in it. so we had to call the company or store. i don't remember who exactly she called.

Kassie p. P2

I have never bought anything from a commercial, but I know a few people who have and they were not happy with the product they bought. I learned from them not to by anything that is advertised on commercials. I am extremely cautious about what I do buy.

~Gaby Gallegos Period 2

No, i have never bought nothing like that, because my mom has always told me that it will not work...

Maritza Cortez P.1

Yes, I got the Slushy Magic cup for Christmas. You put a drink in a cup with these special ice cubes, and you shake it; It turns into a slushy. It works, but it's a small cup, you get about a sip of slushy. The commercial is such a tease.

-Dylan Harris, Period 2

Yes, i bought a basketball that was sub post to be a never flat ball. then months later it is in my room flat. i complained and they said they would give me a refund and it made me think to look at the ball before i buy the basketball.

Juan Madrid Period 1

The only thing I can currently think of that didn't live up to its advertising, was a jacket I purchased a while back. It was a seemngly heavy duty jacket that was of course used for the cold, as well as rain. When trying it out for the first time it was absolute garbage, I felt just as cold as if I hadn't been wearing a jacket.

~Niye Turner, p. 2

Luckily, this has never happened to me. I am extremely critical when it comes to advertisements. I mean if I stood in a pair of pants 3 times my size it would look like I lose weight too. However, I do feel bad for the people that are tricked into these situations.

-Amanda Gaba period 1

I have not bought anything that has dissappointed me especially form TV. My mother has always told me to be careful with the things I buy because most of the time although people may seem lik they work a lot of the time it doesn't.

- Viviana R. Guerrero

Period 2

No I do not ever recall buying anything that did not live up to its advertising standards. It has happened to my brother though, when he bought proactive, it just made things worse for him.
-Iris G. Period 1

I have not bought anything that doesn't live up to its advertising standards. My parents have told me to be sure you know what you buy before you are going to buy it. I know I should research the product I want to buy that is being advertised.
Darby Biggs P.1

I have never bought anything that has disappointed me because my parents and I are always careful on what we spend our money on.

-Esteban O., Period1

I have never bought anything that was a disappointing, I am careful on what i buy

-Dystny A P:2

I bought a music app once, that did not work at all. The advertisment said you could song you wanted. That was a lie, you could only download free songs, and those are any good.

-Michael D P.1

Yes I have but after i bought it i regreted it because it did not work. Then now it makes me think twice about buying things that people advertise.

-Karina Morelos Per.1

I have purchased a few applications for my phone that promised to make the consumer more satisfied than it actually did. I will be sure to look more into these things before I buy.

-Matthew Orona, P.1
